GALLIARD Strange Pleasure LP Tapestry TPT 245 Limited Edition of 500
Galliard – Strange Pleasure was originally issued in the UK in January 1970 on Deram Nova SDN4. This copy is one of an officially licensed Limited Edition of 500 copies issued on Tapestry TPT 245 in 2007. Wonderful pressing on 180g virgin vinyl, as are all Tapestry pressings. This reissue sold out immediately and is consequently very hard to find.
Formed in Birmingham in 1969, Galliard established themselves on Strange Pleasure as an extremely eclectic band, juxtaposing rural compositions with dissonant woodwind and brass, and starkly contrasting pastoral, even medieval, songs with frenetic urban passages. This was their first album and it was quickly followed by a second, New Dawn, before the band dissolved after poor sales.
