CONDITION: Amazing VG++ grade for both vinyl and cover.
Record is from the amazing personal collection of well-known San Francisco DJ Abe “Voco Kesh” Keshishian. Voco was an avid collector of blues, jazz, r/b and rock records who maintained his vinyl meticulously and accumulated early edition pieces. Check my other auctions for more from Kesh's collection.
Known for his KSAN radio show, “Lights Out San Francisco,” Voco was instrumental in the careers of artists like Blue Cheer and Harvey Mandel. He died of a heart attack in 1989 and his records were well-kept in storage until a recent auction.
Says Allmusic:
It starts with a crackle of feedback shooting from speaker to speaker and a voice intoning, "Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time, for y'all have knocked her up" and talking about rising "above it all or drown in my own sh*t." This could only have been utterly bizarre back in 1971 and it's no less so decades later; though the Mothership was well on its way already, Maggot Brain really helped it take off. The instrumental title track is the key reason to listen, specifically for Eddie Hazel's lengthy, mind-melting solo.

VG-: Will likely have some light to medium scratches and significant wear causing medium surface noise and light to medium pops and crackle.
G: May have heavy scratches, significant wear, or bad stains. Will play with heavy surface noise, heavy pops, or heavy crackle.
POOR: Fundamentally flawed by skipping or big scratches or cracks.
