OUR HOURS:  We usually work a normal 5 day week, Monday-Friday, 9:30 to 5:30.  If we are closed during normal business hours, you will see a notice on our listings page (usually by the listing title).  We will respond to all e-mails, but typically answers will take 24 hours to arrive.  Do not expect a response after hours or during the weekends or holidays.

SHIPPING METHODS: We use USPS for most shipments. In some cases we may use UPS instead, especially if the package is large or oversized, so don't take the shipping method listed as gospel - your purchase could be sent by either carrier, but the majority go by USPS.

SHIPPING FEES:  We try hard to only charge actual cost + a fee of no more than $2.00 to cover materials, time, & other costs associated with each sale.  On most items, we undercharge.

COMBINING SHIPPING:  We are happy to do this for all customers, unless specifically stated in the listing, or if the items cannot be shipped together (for instance it's hard to send posters and records in the same package without damaging them, you get the drift).  Please request a total through the eBay system and we will do our best to reduce shipping for multiple items. NOTE THAT COMBINING SHIPPING DOES NOT ALWAYS REDUCE S&H COSTS, BUT IT WILL NEVER INCREASE YOUR S&H COST.

WE ARE REASONABLE PEOPLE:  If there’s a problem with your purchase, please contact us and let us know.  As buyers too, we always want to provide you with a great buying experience!

OFFERS:  Unless you see the "Make Offer" button on our listings, we are not interested in offers.  If you must, please make it reasonable.  Asking for 50% off won’t work.  If you can find it for less, please, buy it there rather than haggle with us. Thank you in advance!

UNPAID WINNINGS:  There seems to be a recent epidemic of dim-witted folks who don't understand the basics of eBay.  Here we go: you buy, you pay, we ship (or you pick up in the rare case of pick-up only items), you get the merchandise.  If payment is not made in the time specified, we will issue an unpaid item notice to eBay and you'll get a strike.  The item will be re-listed and you'll be blocked from our auctions.  We have absolutely zero interest in ANY excuses.  If there is a problem with your PayPal account, don't buy until it's resolved.  If you are expecting money from somewhere else to cover your purchase, don't buy until you have that money in your account.  Your Grandmother explodes unexpectedly?  She'd want you to honor your commitments.  Don't let Grandma down!  You let your monkey play online and he bought a bunch of stuff using your account?  Tough luck!  Next time, apply the lesson you've learned: be responsible and watch your monkey.  In the meantime, it's your account & your responsibility - pay up!  NO EXCEPTIONS!!

PAYMENT TIMELINE: Since we only accept PayPal, there's no reason that payment can't be made at the moment of purchase. We allow a 48 hour period to make a payment from the end of the auction (or, in the case of multiple purchases, 48 hours after you get an invoice with combined shipping, if shipping can be combined).

SHIPPING METHODS & COSTS:  Items must ship by Priority Mail or better, per eBay & PayPal requirements - this is non-negotiable.  Priority is usually faster than 1st Class and includes insurance, but it costs more - minimum cost for a one pound package to even a nearby country like Canada is over $20, and it goes up from there.  EMS is faster, includes insurance and tracking, is typically more secure and better handled, but is usually more expensive.

S&H PRICES IN THE LISTING:  If you'd like a quote for another service (Fed Ex, UPS, etc), PLEASE, contact us BEFORE YOU BUY to ask for an S&H price quote and make sure to include your country.

If you made multiple purchases that can be shipped in one package, WAIT FOR OUR INVOICE.  DO NOT pay for an item or items, arbitrarily inserting a figure for S&H.  Payment is due 48 hours AFTER we send the invoice with S&H for your country included. If you pay the US shipping cost and you live outside the USA it will not only delay the shipping of your item, but it will cost you more in the long run.  It is not our responsibility to chase after you if you make the wrong payment, so we take care of the buyers who have paid correctly first and will notify the others when we have time to get to them.

CUSTOMS VALUES & FEES: We will NOT falsify customs forms for anyone - EVER!  We buy plenty of stuff from around the world and sympathize with Customs fees, but don't ask or expect us to lie for you, it puts us at risk and we will not do it. 

If you have to pay customs and / or other fees in your country, this is your responsibility - not ours.  If an item sent internationally is returned to us because the buyer refuses to accept it or pay fees imposed by your local government or delivery service, we will not refund the S&H costs if the item is returned to us.  Again, these costs are the buyer's responsibility, not the seller's.

DELIVERY TIMES:  International Deliveries face various potential roadblocks that domestic shipments do not – customs officials & inspections in particular – so we cannot guarantee that any package will arrive within a specified period of time.  Most packages do arrive within the estimates.

Box Grade: Typical Edgewear as pictured for these boxes, in line with similar well-cared for boxes of this vintage. Lid is slightly concave. No corner splits. Generic Inner Sleeves.

Record Grade: Mint- We are talking about ten pieces of voiynal here, so this is an overall description. Discs may vary slightly. Nice clean shiny black vinyl overall, with most records appearing unplayed. 

Nothing I’d note as a scratch. A few discs show some very light scuffing, probably from the somewhat rough texture of the generic inners. As is sometimes present in records of “this type” there are a few spots that look washy

Pigs 'N Repugnant: 
Tracks 1-2 are live in Appleton 1969, taken from Gas Mask. Track 1 begins with "The Jelly" and cuts to "The Eric Dolphy Memroial Barbecue" at 02:20. Tracks 3-6 taken from Our Man in Nirvana (Fullerton College, 08-Nov-1968). "King Kong" is 31 minutes long on Our Man in Nirvana, here it is 28 minutes and 41 seconds. It IS the same recording, yet it is slower here (and in a lower key, of course) and includes a final "goodnight" which is cut from Our Man in Nirvana. So one part has been edited out of this version, and the edit occurs at 14:24. 

Son Of Pigs 'N Repugnant: 
Track 1 is "A Pound for a Brown on the Bus" plus "Sleeping in a Jar", taken from Our Man in Nirvana (Fullerton College, 08-Nov-1968). At the time, Zappa called this conglomeration "The String Quartet". Tracks 2-4 are live in Appleton 1969, the recording that also appeared on Gas Mask. Track 2 is like "Return of the Hunch-Back Duke" on Stage #5 and includes "Aybe Sea" and "Transylvania Boogie", and track 4 is an instrumental jam. This side is a real live segued sequence. 

Beyond The Fringe Of Audience Comprehension: 
The Mystery Box version has these liner notes: "Tracks 1-4 [of side 2] are from the film 200 motels. Tracks 5-7 are from Hunchentoot." "'Space Boy' is the rarest track in this entire box. It was recorded for the Curtis Harrington film, Queen of Blood. Words, music and vocals by Florence Marley. Orchestration and additional instruments by FZ. Sound effects by Ackerman & Cole." Tracks 14-16 have been said to be the remixed Sleep Dirt versions. The suite on side 1 (often called "The Groupie Opera") has been circulated as either "unknown live 1970/1971" and "Butte, Montana 1970/1971" (they do sing "this is the swingingest place in Butte, Montana"), but sounds more like a studio job without an audible live audience. The title is from one of Zappa's catch-phrases: "Some of us live beyond the fringe of audience comprehension. The air is better here." 

Zut Alors: 
Track 4 is probably from the 1975 UCLA Royce Hall concert (the same concert as on Orchestral Favorites). The same recording also appears on Apocrypha, where it's listed as "Gypsy Airs". (The piece was originally recorded in 1967 for an unreleased single, which was planned for release on Capitol Records together with the all-orchestral original version of Lumpy Gravy, which was only released on 8-track.) Track 5 is a longer edit of the Shut Up & Play Yer Guitar version (Osaka 3-Feb-1976). Longer, but still edited; perhaps a tape edited by Zappa himself somehow found its way here. Track 6 is a guitar solo from "More Trouble Every Day". Track 7 is a different edit of "Hands with a Hammer" on Stage #3 (Osaka 3-Feb-1976). Those two are also what is listed as "Guitar Improvisation" on the Wanna Buy Some Acid? bootleg. Track 8 is live in Vancouver 1-Oct-1975. Track 9 is a version with the Mike Douglas band (from a 1976 TV show) backing Frank Zappa (also released on Apocrypha). According to the liner notes on the Mystery Box version, "Tracks 1-4 [on side 2] are the entire side 3 of the unreleased double album version of Zoot Allures". This may not be not correct, but there were serious plans for a double album version of Zoot Allures. 

The Rondo Hatton Band: 
Track 1 is the single version, with a different guitar solo from the album version. Tracks 2-6 are live at the Capitol Theater in Passaic 08-Nov-1974. Tracks 7-11 are live in Sydney 24-Jun-1973, also issued on Nifty (track 11 is Zappa improvising around the letters MAR-JUH-RENE) - from the "Un-Concert". Tracks 12-13 are December 1973 bonus tracks. 

A Token Of His Extreme: 
On both sides everything is adjusted to have an "all segue", but edits between songs are of course clear. Audience is only audible in the middle of "Approximate" and after "Florentine Pogen" (the song finish at 9:55). Most songs on side 1 (and expecially the second half of "Inca Roads") are overcrowded of crazy rumours overdubs. "Stinkfoot" is the "Tom Waits version" ("right around the corner ... over by Tom Waits's Restaurant"] and is sung through the voice modifier. "Approximate" is, of course, just a little bit of the song, with first the theme illustration by the whole band, then a vocal extravaganza (Zappa: "That's the melody"), after which Zappa says "Ok, this can also be danced" but "Cosmik Debris" starts. 

Chalk Pie: 
Track 7 has been officially released on Guitar in a slightly different mix; it's from Salt Lake City 07-Dec-1981. Track 8 is an officially unreleased live version edited together from Santa Monica 11-Dec-1981 (early show) and Salt Lake City 07-Dec-1981. Track 9 is an officially unreleased guitar solo from "The Black Page #2", from San Diego 12-Dec-1981, early show. Track 10 is from the Ritz show in New York on 17-Nov-1981 when Al DiMeola sat in (bootlegged on Assault on New York - The Toxic Shock Trilogy). 

Crush All Boxes: 
Quoth the liner notes: "'Fine Girl' and 'Drafted Again' are outtakes. Tracks 2-5 are studio rehearsals with drum machine. ('Teenage Wind' and 'Harder Than Your Husband' are instrumentals. 'Falling in Love Is a Stupid Habit' is a demo for Jimmy Carl Black (FZ: piano & vocal)." Zappa later denied that he ever wrote that last song in an interview published in the fanzine Society Pages. Tracks 2-5 and 7 also appear on Apocrypha.Tracks 9-12 on side two represent the entire side one of the unreleased Crush All Boxes. Bonus track 'Teenage Wind' is an outtake. It does not feature Bob Harris on vocals. 

Return Of The Son Of Serious Music: 
Side 1 is from an orchestral situation with the Pomona Valley Symphony Orchestra at Mount Saint Mary's College, Claremont, California in 1963, conducted by Frank Zappa. A small part of this has been officially released on The Lost Episodes, as "Mount Saint Mary's Concert Excerpt". According to the liner notes on the Mystery Box, "While You Were Art #1" is the "original, stripped-down version", and the Francesco tracks are out-takes. They sound like different orchestrations of Francesco Zappa album tracks. "Francesco Rock" has a drum track. The notes also claim that "Pedro's Dowry" was played by the Berkely Symphony Orchestra in June 1981, but it's from "A Zappa Affair", June 16, 1984. Anyway, this release may or may not be related to the bootlegs Serious Music and Son of Serious Music - it's certainly supposed to look that way. 

Randomonium: 
Track 2 has been officially released on the Mystery Disc. Track 3 is an alternate take of "Dwarf Nebula" from Weasels Ripped My Flesh, recorded at Apostolic Studios, New York. Tracks 5-6 are the last bit of "Billy the Mountain"; it also appears on Cuccurrullo Brullo Brillo and Apocrypha. It's a live recording, but there has been speculation that there are some overdubs on it. Track 7 is a longer edit of the Playground Psychotics version with John Lennon. Track 8 is a live improvisation from a New York TV show called The Bitter End in 1967. Track 10 is the same version as on disc 3 of Apocrypha (Stonybrook, 15-Oct-1978). Track 12 is a 1981 studio version that also appears on Demos and Apocrypha. Tracks 1, 9, and 11 are unknown versions. Track 1 must be from 1967-1968 as Ray Collins is on it. Track 11 must be from Europe, summer 1982, as Ed Mann is on it.

GRADING

All items are graded visually.  We try hard to be conservative when grading, we want you to be pleasantly surprised when you get your records.  That said, we are human, and if you think our grading is off, contact us.

Our background in grading collectibles goes back over 30 years, but is mostly in other fields.  For that reason, our grading system may look a little different to what you are used to (the Goldmine system, for instance).

We would rather be thorough than vague (as you can tell from all the text in the listing!), so if a record has multiple issues listed, it still may be a very sharp record - especially from this collection!  We are listing no "low-grade" records here unless they are incredibly scarce.  Furthermore, while we have a shorthand grading system like other sellers, we also endeavor to describe the issues are that determine the grade.  We don't just drop in an abbreviation and expect you to use your imagination.

We grade using the following terms:

NEW - Factory sealed records.  If you open a factory sealed record to play and it has a manufacturing defect (rare, but it happens), please remember there is no way we could've known that as we do not open sealed records to inspect them for obvious reasons.

NM - Near Mint - the highest grade we will give anything.  We don't believe there are truly MINT by definition records.  Any factors that prevent the sleeve or vinyl from being mint will be noted in the listing.  If it reads NM and has no further info, expect a record that is as good as new, but not sealed.

M- Mint Minus - almost our top grade, but maybe with a couple small issues

VF - Very Fine - maybe the vinyl has a few marks from going in and out of the sleeve, or there is a corner bend.

F - Fine - vinyl might look a little dull, but no visible scratches or defects, sleeve may have more than a few small defects

VG - Very Good - record shows wear but is expected to play through, with some background noise.  If there is a small scratch, this will be noted.  Sleeve has multiple issues, which will be noted.

FINALLY, REMEMBER:  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but proof is in the pictures.  We have photos in all the listings, but if there are specific questions, please ask & we will do our best to resolve!

PACKAGING FOR SHIPPING

We use new professional Uline cardboard mailers with padding to ship your records.  That said, record mailers are tight and if the corners get banged up in shipping, so do the corners of your records.  For an additional fee, we offer an alternative packaging option, whereby we pack your records in the Uline mailers described above, and those are wrapped in padding and packed inside a larger box.  If you are interested in this option, please inquire before you pay and we'll get you a quote.

Finally, buyers have differing opinions about the best way to ship records; in particular whether the records should be removed from the outer sleeves when they are mailed.  We get an equal amount of requests to ship in and out of sleeves.  As sleeves were designed to protect records, our default is to ship the records inside them.  Some buyers believe shipping the albums in the sleeves can cause them to split.  We have no bias and are happy to accomodate your preference.  If you want records to be removed from sleeves before we ship, JUST SAY SO.  The best place to do this is in the messages section of your PayPal payment.  If you don't express a preference, we will ship them in the sleeves.  NO WHINING IF YOU DON'T SPECIFY!
