This is the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, Limited Edition, Frank Sinatra Box of sixteen LP albums.  I bought this in the winter of 1983-84 for my Sinatra-lovin’ mother.  I played each of them exactly one time on a Denon turntable with a top-of-the-line Shure cartridge.  (I made her a set of cassette tapes.)  Since their inaugural playing, they have remained for 20+ years in a clean closet, away from extremes of temperature and humidity, in a non-smoking environment.  Sinatra box sets in this condition are very rare.  This set has a limited edition serial number of #4523 engraved on a metal plate just inside the right door, a relatively low number. There are no dents or scrapes on the silver box. The black writing is clean and crisp.  It is not faded.

The box contains the 16 original half-speed mastered record albums and a Geo-Disc alignment tool.  The LPs span from 1953 to 1962 and include:  Swing Easy/Songs For Young Lovers, In The Wee Small Hours, Songs For Swinging Lovers, Close To You, A Swingin' Affair, Where Are You?,  Come Fly With Me,  Songs For Only The Lonely, Come Dance With Me, Look To Your Heart, No One Cares, Nice 'N' Easy, Sinatra's Swingin’ Session!, All The Way, Come Swing With Me!, and Sinatra Sings…Of Love & Things!

These "LIMITED EDITION" sets were re-mastered in the last half of 1983, from the ORIGINAL 1st generation studio master tapes (according to MFSL) onto extremely quiet virgin "Super" vinyl. This vinyl has low background noise & supposedly lasts far longer than other vinyl.  MFSL also used specialized equipment for playing back the original tapes and carving these top quality records - both machines were run at half-speed. This re-mastering technique ensures the best possible frequency response & dynamic range to extract the most from those tapes.  The albums also feature the original album artwork – vintage 50’s paintings and pictures.  The box also contains the original promotional flyer, and an article about the box set from the Washington Post.  From what I remember, 1) you really can see light when shined through the albums, and 2) the albums really do sound - - incredible.
