Description
Original pressing of Fran Thorne Piano Reflections on Transition TRLP 27. The playing surface is flawless, with a high luster; perhaps played once or twice. Both labels are attached. The laminated cover has 1" wear on the bottom seam at the left and right corners and on the top seam at the opening; the spine is neatly repaired with clear tape; 1" paper loss (probably from removal of a price sticker) at the top right corner of the back. The booklet is mint. Transition is one of the rarest and most highly sought-after post-war labels, a small Massachusetts company active in the mid-l950's whose pressings were issued in remarkably small numbers. Thorne had a brief career as a jazz improviser who evolved into contemporary classical composition and academia. This is a solo piano recording of 10 standards
