Oh Yeah! I tend to get a bit blasé about records because I have an awful lot of them but it’s things like this that keep it interesting. My first ever spare copy of the debut album from a fantastic Norwegian electric folk rock group, imagine a cross between Steeleye Span at their best, the Dransfields and the Trees and you’re fairly close to the sounds contained here. Lovely female vocals, swirling violin, stinging electric guitar, this is just a great album and if it was a UK band and pressing then the price would be huge. I can’t recommended this highly enough to anyone even remotely interested in folk rock.
Condition:
Sleeve: Nice but not perfect. It’s a single sleeve made of unlaminated thin card. The front is very clean with no writing or tears, there are a couple of very light creases to the top right corner, there’s also some very very light ringwear mostly noticeable at the edges (not in a complete circle) - I’m storing record and sleeve seperately at the moment so this won’t get any worse. The rear is also clean with no tears anywhere, there’s a very light crease in the top right corner, there’s a blue sticker saying “LP4†in the top right corner and there’s also a name “Peggy†written in blue ink near the top (a slight digression here if you’ll forgive me - some time ago a friend bought quite a lot of records from Fairport Convention’s Dave Pegg and all of them had “Peggy†written in such a way, quite a few of the more interesting items from that collection made their way into my collection and this is one of those which is only for sale cos I just got a copy with a slightly better sleeve, so not only are you getting a great record here you’re getting one from the collection of a well known musician!). The top seam is unworn but the bottom seam has some light wear. The spine has some slight wear but all of the writing is present and readable.
The inner sleeve is present and in good clean condition but there is a name and address written in blue ink (no, it’s not Dave Pegg’s!) on one side.
Both labels are perfect, very clean with no writing, tears or stickers and no visible spindle wear.
Record: Very very strong. It’s very clean and still has that nice dark shine that only rarely played records have. When held under a harsh lamp there are no visible marks at all. It plays great too with no nasty surface noise at all to spoil your enjoyment and totally silent between tracks with a nice clear sound right across the full dynamic range which just emphasises what a great record this is.
