Description

The seller received this LP as a promotional copy from the label at the time of its release.  The vinyl disc was visually inspected and appears to be in VG+ to NM condition.  The record has a slight bowl shape but tracks fine, which is why the rating is less than NM.  It is shiny and unmarred, and in otherwise beautiful condition.  The disc has tan Bearsville labels with the wording "PROMOTION NOT FOR SALE" across the top.

Runouts are etched except for STERLING which is stamped.

Matrix / Runout (Runout side A etched): S BR6959 31912-1A STERLING RL

Matrix / Runout (Runout side B etched): s BR6959 31913-1B STERLING RL

The cover is in VG+ condition, with minimal shelf wear.  It has a pink promo sticker on the front cover.  It has the original generic white paper sleeve, which has no seam splits.  Please zoom in on the provided photos to see the overall condition of this item.

(Wikipedia Excerpts) “Fool for the City” is the fifth studio album by English rock band Foghat, released on September 15, 1975. This was their first platinum album and features, along with the title track, their signature song "Slow Ride."

The album cover shows drummer Roger Earl sitting alone on a soap box fishing down a manhole near 229 East 11th Street in New York City, near the address of Foghat's American office. The back cover features skeptical bystanders observing Earl's unusual activity and the other members of the band either asking him what he is doing or trying to dissuade him from it. In a 2014 interview, Earl explained how the picture was taken:  “It was a Sunday morning and I hadn't slept. It was Nick Jameson's idea since I have this penchant for fishing. Anyway, we lift up the manhole cover and I'm sitting on a box. Almost immediately a couple of New York's Finest come by in their patrol car. They're looking at us and they wind the window down. They yell out, "Hey! You got a fishing license?" and then start laughing.

This particular LP was released with two different catalog numbers, The original released in 1975 was released as BR 6959 (this version). A reissue in 1978 was issued as BRK 6980. All issues from 1978 -1984 used this catalog number.

Seller is the Original Owner. I have recently begun to list my 2500+ record collection on Ebay, so please check back occasionally to see my new listings. My collection has been securely boxed and stored in a smoke free environment since 1983. Most of my vinyl records have never been played, and many have their original shrink wrap. Seller was in the retail record business in the 1970's-1980's and acquired many promotional and collectible LPs from that era.

Grading methodology is as follows:

M (MINT) - Album is brand new, sealed, and has never been played.

NM (NEAR MINT) - Vinyl looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap. LP cover may have some light rub marks.

VG+ (VERY GOOD PLUS) - Vinyl may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned corners, or a slight seam split. May have slight signs of wear also may be marred by a cut out hole, sawcut, or cut corner indicating it is a promotional copy.

VG (VERY GOOD) - Vinyl has light wear, scratches, or scuffs. Covers may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached, etc.
