Phillip-Howard McGhee Boptet on 4 tracks with McGhee on trumpet; Hank Jones, piano; Ray Brown, bass; J.C. Heard, drums from 1949. Balance of 4 tracks include 1 track (“Cheek to Cheek”) with a quintet that includes Bill Harris, trombone; Dick Hyman, piano; Gene Ramey, bass; Jo Jones, drums (1951). The 3 remaining trucks include Billy Butterfield, trumpet; Benny Green, trombone; Max Roach, drums; Tommy Turk and Kai Winding, trombones; Shelly Manne, drums and others from 1949. David Stone Martin cover art. Rare edition. Cover: VG+. Intact with some aging and light soil from handling. Old price sticker on the back cover with small ink-mark. Old price barely noticeable written on front cover in light pencil. Record: VG+ or better. Visually shows light wear with no noticeable scratches but some rubs and brush-like marks on the surface. There are some clicks and crackles. These occur at intervals. They are audible but not throughout the record. Some tunes are clear of surface noise. Side B seems to have less surface noise. Very listenable with the interference as noted in some places. Audibly checked.
