Flaming Lips--"Transmissions From.." LP Near Mint

The extremely rare and hard to find 1st pressing of the Flaming Lips LP "Transmissions From The Satellite Heart" on Warner Bros. Records (9 45334-1) from 1993.  It is still being protected by its original factory shrink wrap, keeping it in nearly brand new condition.  This orange vinyl masterpiece has only been played once since it was opened 16 years ago.  If you choose to listen to it, you will be playing it for the second time ever.

The full description has been added below, but unless you are a true Flaming Lips enthusiast, and a SERIOUS collector, it may not mean much to you.  This auction is only for the most devoted Flaming Lips fan who will be able to appreciate what a truly rare item is being auctioned here in such a pristine condition.

You absolutely will NOT be disappointed in what I'm offering you this week.  This is a real treasure from my collection, and one that I really want to end up in the right hands of a TRUE Flaming Lips collector.  I want you to appreciate this album the way that I do.  I will start the auction rather low (with NO RESERVE), so if you happen to be lucky enough to be the only collector who sees it, you WILL get it for a steal.    Trust a long time fan and collector that you are getting maximum value for whatever you can get this for.

The Cover:

This album is as close to being brand new as you will ever see unless you come across a sealed copy.  The jacket is completely new and glossy looking.  The colors are still as vibrant as they were the day this album was purchased.  There are absolutely no scratches, tears, creases, writing, or damage to be found.  In all honesty this record appears brand new, and it basically is brand new, since it has been kept in storage since shortly after its original purchase at actual time of release in 1993.  I can't stress enough how much of the original glossy sheen the cover has retained.  Since it has been in storage no light sources have been able to get to this record to fade it even in the slightest, and the original shrinkwrap has kept the cover from any sort of damage.  The shrinkwrap still has its original price tag on the back, and an "Import" sticker on the front.  Both were present at original purchase, and I have never bothered to remove them.   I'm sure they could be easily removed if desired with a little patience.

The original clear plastic sleeve is included as well, and only has a couple wrinkles.  Seriously, you simply will NOT find a copy of this album with better packaging.  It has been preserved and cared for by someone who holds this album in such a high regard that they would never let anything happen to it!

The Vinyl:

While this copy isn't sealed, it is still certainly in amazing condition.  It was only played once back at the time of its realease and then put away in storage for 16 years, while I used my CD copy whenever I wanted to listen to the album.  The labels appear virtually brand new with no signs of wear on the spindle hole or anywhere else.  Very clean, crisp vinyl that will play back flawlessly.

As a side note, if you have only heard the Flaming Lips on CD you are in for a surprise when you hear them on vinyl.  I'm fully aware that the "vinyl is always better" argument has been beaten into the ground, but this is the case where I have to take a stand and vouch for it.  The frequencies and levels of every single song are completely unmatched by its CD counterpart.  This is one of the only bands I can think of that you absolutely MUST hear the vinyl versions to fully comprehend the majestic power of what was being created.

The more I describe this album, the more I'm having a hard time parting with it.  I've sold plenty of rare records over the past year, many that are worth 10 times more than this one, but none of them come close to the sonic differences that this one has to the (in my opinion) less than stellar CD transfer.  Someone has to take this off of my hands during this auction because I'm very close to having a change of heart and just keeping it!  You will hear the Flaming Lips in a way that you may not be used to, and will certainly want to make this copy your exclusive way to listen to this particular album!  This is coming from someone who has been a fan since "Hit To Death In The Future Head" way back in 1992!  Once you hear the Flaming Lips on vinyl, you won't want to go back to those godawful CD transfers, and I will stick by this to the end!

I'm sure any true Swans fan would if they can get their hands on this LP in such a truly rare condition.  I have many LPs that I'm selling for much more value on the collectors market, but this is the special one that I'm having a hard time letting go of.  I truly hope that the winner of this auction will appreciate this LP the same way I do.  The economy in Detroit right now is just brutal and I need money for basic necessities, so if you're bidding on this album right now, you've ironically caught me at a "good" time, where I have to give up one of my most prized posessions just to make ends meet.  I wouldn't have sold this album a year ago for any reason I could imagine.  It's just that special.  Just try searching for this anywhere else.  Chances are you won't come up with anything close to what I'm offering you right now!  Good luck! Paypal is my only accepted payment method.  Payment must be received within 7 days of auction's end to avoid re-listing.  I am only able to ship on Saturdays and Mondays due to my job, so your item will be shipped accordingly as to when payment is received (i.e. if the auction ends on Sunday you must pay Sunday night or Monday morning or I have to wait until the following Saturday to ship it to you).  Records will be carefully packed in a 12x12 mailer with record kept separate from sleeve to prevent any damage to either.  I offer insurance on U.S. orders, cost depending on final sale price.  Delivery confirmation, signature service or any other special requests are available upon request for applicable amounts.

International shipping will generally be $17 to most areas via First Class International ($5 for Canada).
