FREEDOM – Through The Years ORIG Vertigo LP / 6360 049 (UK, Stereo, 1971)

Happy to present this ultra fresh copy of Freedom’s 1st Swirl LP with both disc and sleeve in TREMENDOUS condition.

The non-laminated gatefold is a real top example for the discerning Vertigo connoisseur.  It has just ONE small handling crease on the front, 2 ultra faint creases near the spine and that’s the extent of the creasing. The spine is near perfect with no compression or chips just a little sun bleaching but all text still bright and legible.  Near to full sharpness on the opening edges and near to full definition on all corners.  Very slight rubs to the bottom edges, none to the top. The sleeve lies 100% flat with no rippling and the inner gate with the picture of the ‘unknown girl in Hyde Park’ is as fresh as the day of issue.  There’s a little ring impression to the top and bottom of the reverse but with no writing, grubbiness, residue or scrapes this really is as good as I’ve seen for any non-laminated Swirly sleeve of this ’71 vintage.  Must grade EX+ (Excellent Plus).  

The labels are near to perfect with just one spindle trail to one side.  No staining, fingerprints, writing or toning of the pure white paper.  This came from a collection where the previous owner recorded to cassette after 1 or maybe 2 plays. Lovely.

The sharp medium weight vinyl is a real beauty.  One short scuff line which doubles and some ultra faint removal traces if you look super close, but really 95 out of 100 graders would go Mint or close on such a good looking disc as this.  I’m going EX+ (Excellent Plus) hoping to surprise and delight.  As with all my listings HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays fine as you would expect from such a pristine disc.  There’s the occasional light tick if you listen VERY close, but nothing else – no scratches, hairlines or embedded dirt therefore no snap, crackle, pops, hiss, distortion or loss of clarity.  Mighty fine audio which at least matches the visual grade.  Also supplied with its correct and original 0671 (June 1971) swirl inner, also in EX state.

(I have to use capitals here to emphasise this LP’s condition!).  THIS IS A SUPERB HARDLY TOUCHED COPY OF ONE OF THE RARER 71 SWIRLS and I would wager sits easily in the top 10% of remaining original copies.  No reserve!
