Issued in 1972,  'The Best of Free' is a twelve song primer for the uninitiated from the blues-based English rock group. Although Free was often overshadowed during their run by the likes of Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones and The Who, the proud quartet consistently shifted heartfelt blues-infused cuts.

'The_Best of Free' features several hot tracks from legendary vocalist Paul Rodgers and company, including the group's epic flagship track, "All Right Now", plus "Fire and Water", "The Stealer", "Catch a Train" and "My Brother Jake". There is so much more to Free's rich recording career than the twelve songs pieced together on the Best of Free retrospective, such as "Mr. Big" and "Wishin Well".

Once sampled, it's time to move on to Free's entire catalog of solid studio albums. You will not be disappointed.

These records are generally considered to be the "first among equals": the VERY FIRST generation and the VERY FIRST pressings of the particular title; a PROTOTYPE and the earliest known official pressing of the record.

·                THE RECORD

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG NEAR MINT (APPEARS UNPLAYED). The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(a)         The record is  apparently pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(b)         The record comes in its original, custom, inner sleeve, which is UNIQUE to this album.

(c)          White Promo Label version of this title is much rarer that a regular, commercially released, version of this title. We estimate that stock copies of this album outnumber promo copies by a ratio of at least 100:1.

(d)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3 (front side) and 4 (back side)

-       Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging  (BARELY VISIBLE)

-       Cover has a neat, round PROMO cutout hole in one of the corners

-       Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease)  in one of the corners.

-       Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (nothing significant)
