Description

THIS IS AN AUCTION FOR A VERY RARE FIRST PRESSING OF THE DEBUT LP BY FREE ENTITLED "TONS OF SOBS" RELEASED IN 1969 ON ISLAND RECORDS CATALOGUE NUMBER ILPS-9089. THIS COPY IS A FIRST PRESS ON THE TEXTURED PINK CIRCLE LABEL WITH  THE MATRIX NUMBERS ILPS 9089-A2 AND ILPS 9089-B2. THE LABELS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A SMALL 4 LETTER NAME WRITTEN ON THE LABEL ON SIDE B.

THE HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THERE ARE A SOME LIGHT MARKS TO BOTH SIDES AND ONE LIGHT SCRATCH ON SIDE B WHICH CAUSES A FEW TICKS DURING PLAYBACK. THE LP SITS NICE AND FLAT ON THE TURNTABLE AND PLAYS THROUGH WITHOUT ANY SKIPS OR JUMPS. THERE IS SOME LIGHT BACKGROUND NOISE THROUGHOUT AND THE ODD TICK AND POP BUT THE SOUND IS STILL CLEAR AND VIBRANT. I WOULD GRADE THE AUDIO AS VERY GOOD.

THE GATEFOLD SLEEVE HAS SOME LIGHT STORAGE WEAR TO THE CORNERS AND EDGES BUT IS OVERALL VERY GOOD CONDITION

OVERALL A NICE PLAYABLE COPY OF THIS VERY RARE LP

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT MY OTHER LISTINGS FOR OTHER CLASSIC ROCK LPS

I use the Record Collector guide to grade my records-see below

The Lp will be sent in professional mailers and will be sent in the Uk recorded/special delivery at a cost of  £2.50. I will pay the extra. The cost of postage in Europe is £8.00 and will include international signed for as mandatory . Anyone bidding who does not have feedback will have their bid cancelled straight away. I am very sorry about this but this is due to problems experienced in the past. Anyone without feedback and who wants to bid please contact me first.

Grading:- MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT:
The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD:
The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD:
The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc
