FREDDIE ROACH "Good Move!" Blue Note 84158, P, RVG, Stereo Vinyl
This is the first edition, 1963, "RVG"-stamped, "P"-pressing of FREDDIE ROACH's "Good Move!" on the "New York USA" labels of Blue Note BST 84158. Musicians include Freddie Roach, organ; Blue Mitchell, trumpet; Hank Mobley, tenor saxophone; Eddie Wright, guitar; Clarence Johnston, drums.
VINYL plays with consistent low to medium level surface noise (i.e, static, ?? or ????,relative to the volume of the music/instruments) with occasional ticks and pops. However, Ensemble Instrumental sections are dynamic and strong with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. Surface noise, crackle more noticeable in ballads. No Skips. No Distortion. Very good vinyl gloss. Many faint hairline marks, at least 3 feelable to fingertip. The "New York USA " labels are clear and clean, spindle wear under direct light. See photos.
The COVER is in good condition with bent or wrinkled corners. Spine is worn with 1" splits at each end and start of split in spine middle. Top seam 3" split at one end. Lower seam is worn, looks to have been treated with black marker, 1" split at opening. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 43 West 61st St., New York 23" back jacket shows aging, wear, discoloration. sPlease see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters).
