You are looking at an ULTRA RARE copy of the “You Betcha! - Live at Fiddler’s” LP from The Frank Derrick Total Experience This was released in 1974 on PS Records (323 E. 23rd St, Chicago, IL, 60616 - in Bronzeville or maybe right by McCormick Place, the world's largest building I think?).
This classic recording features legendary Chicago jazz drummer Frank Derrick - who played with everyone from The Four Tops to Steve Wonder to Roberta Flack - being backed by a big soul band. Really great stuff here - only reissued in Japan or something within the last decade. Cool liner notes about Frank on the back of the sleeve.
The track listing is as follows:
Side A: Socialite Suburbanite, You Betcha, Inspiration, Good Evenin’ Rev
Side B: Jazz Scene, No Jive, Poor Man’s Blues, Variations in Jazz
I never really understood the Goldmine ratings (M-/VG+ etc) but I do describe my records accurately - notice my 1500+ positive feedback and lack of negative feedback. There are some marks on the vinyl but it’s in overall great shape: no skips, pops, etc. The cover has some wear around the edges but is still shiny and thick. Some ringwear as well. All this is amazing for a record that’s almost 37 years old.
This is totally underrated classic that never shows up on Ebay. Only copy I can find anywhere on the internet is selling for over $1200. Bid now!
