British pianist Greg Foat links up with south London drummer Moses Boyd and bassist Jihad Darwish for an acoustic trio session that finds him returning to pared-back, melody-first writing. Known for slow-leavened cosmic jazz, library moods and cinematic soul, Foat pares things down here to quiet, precise chamber playing with sizeable swing and space. It's a format he hasn't recorded in for several years, having lately leant into synth-led projects and collaborations with artists like Gigi Masin and Aleksi Heinola. Boyd, better known for his electronics-heavy solo output, brings warm, restless movement, while Darwish lays down low-end lines with finesse.
