Description
Flowers mono was issued on the 15th of July 1967 in very small limited numbers by Decca, but not actually sold in the UK until the mid 70's when the boxed stereo version was pressed. The album had a mixed set of tracks on it, some already issued and some new ones. Lady Jane came from Aftermath, Back Street Girl came from Buttons but Sitting On A Fence had not previously appeared anywhere. Because of the extremely small limited amount of Flowers mono albums manufactured by Decca, it is reported by serious stones collectors that today this mono album is one of the rarest Decca Stones albums to find in any condition. Whilst talking about condition, I can advise that the LK-i 4888 unboxed Decca mono album I am auctioning is a thickly pressed heavy weight vinyl pressing with jet black mirror like surfaces. Not only this but it comes with the rarest of rare 1a - 1a matrix numbers, showing that this particular copy is really a true first pressing and very rare indeed to find anywhere. I would grade the vinyl condition of both sides at very good ++ according to record grading standards, others may grade it at excellent.There are just a few hairlines sitting on top of the vinyl to be seen under light but I can confirm that I have played this album through before listing and it plays at an excellent level with no stylus sticks or jumps. The loud mono sound is awesome. There is just an odd dust click on a couple of tracks to be heard as you would expect for the age of the vinyl, but with a good clean of the vinyl, these few clicks should be reduced or even removed altogether. Both labels are very clean. The outer cover is graded at ex+ and is solid all round and very clean. Overall, this extremely rare Decca unboxed mono album of 43 years of age is one that all serious collectors of Rolling Stones albums should have in their collection.
