'THE FIVE DAY WEEK STRAW PEOPLE'
UK Original LP on SAGA RECORDS FID 2123 from 1968 vintage psych
A renowned psych record that is much sought among collectors, little is really known about this group or their members.
Still, they did record one outstanding album, which must be one to have for serious psychedelia fans.
This era in British music seems to have included several bands who recorded discs that combined a certain humour, melody, and general attitude. I hear it in Rainbow Ffolly, July, The End, and Small Faces albums from the period, and it made for an imaginative hotbed of progression. Perhaps it was the drug-taking that was becoming prevalent, or the clubs like UFO, or other psychedelic influences from other bands around them. I would put that last influence as the most likely to have moved the general sound - each band swapping and spurring from each other, hearing their ideas working and formulating those into their own bands' music. It's my personal favourite time in music history really - for both the UK, and the other side of the Atlantic too. 1967 and '68 - superb shifting from beat, blues and pop, in what was called 'underground' music.
Here's a landmark item then - and in decent playing shape!
CONDITION;
The single-sleeve laminated COVER is VG+, having some wear, little aging to the rear - one small piece of the 'flip-back' is missing at top opening.
The VINYL grades VG++ to EX, with decent shine, plays well, and only light scuff. A slight edge-warp, but nothing to effect play.
The matt black lables with silver text are EX, very nice and clean, no pen or stains.
A nice example that sounds - and plays - great!
