'Horizontalism' marks something of a curveball for this Brighton three-piece; largely constructed of remixes and dubs from 2014's acclaimed 'Hard Believer', the tracks here investigate a much more abstract and nocturnal feel, jettisoning the rock-driven and widescreen dynamics of their parent album for a considerably more spare and electronic approach that pays lip service to both the DJ background of the band members and the sleight-of-hand that's always been present in their approach. As the title may suggest, this is a sideways move for Fink, but rarely has the band sounded more fascinating than here.
