Description

Up for grabs is an ultra rare US copy of the soundtrack to the Innermost Limits of Pure fun, the classic late 60's surf movie by the legendary George Greenough. This US copy was pressed on a private label (no indication of which label), and the music was composed by Farm, which included top 60's surfer Denny Aeberg, and Darryl and Dennis Dragon who where involved in several other soundtracks of the time. Rumors vary of how many of these US copies were pressed...... I have read only 1000 on one website. Regardless, its much rarer than the Australian copy on Rebel records, and virtually impossible to find here. In the great "Surforama" book by Murray Walding, he describes it as one of the rarest soundtracks of alltime.

The music is a great selection of rock (soft to hard psych), blues (electric and acoustic), a couple of folky/psych tracks, and "Animal" is an upbeat psychedelic funk number. Musically, its my favourite surf soundtrack...."Animal" and the cover of Freddy King's classic "San Ho Zay" are my pick of the tracks!

Cover is in (G) condition. All three seams have been neatly taped with invisible tape. Slight water stain to the bottom front. Old initials written twice in pen and black marker on the top right corner. General shelf wear, and a couple of very light hairline creases. The plain white back of the cover is fairly clean.

Hard to assign a grade to the vinyl. Its clean, and still retains some gloss/shine, but has a lot of scuffs and light scratches...some of the scratches are long, but they're not deep. Surprisingly, it plays MUCH better than it looks! There is a mark at the start of side 1 that causes a light, constant tick on each rotation for the first track, but the rest of the album plays through with minor background noise and the odd mild pop/tick. No hissing or overbearing crackle/pops.....the high notes and vocals still sound great. No jumps or skipping. Visually i would only grade it at (G), but based on sound quality i would rate is as (VG). A very listenable copy!

Labels are (G+). Some spots, pen marks, and spindle marks on both labels, but no stickers/residue, tearaways or texta marks.

All in all, a great playing or display copy of this super rare 60's surfing soundtrack!!!

Can be picked up from Mt Martha, Vic, or will post Australia wide in an Aus Post padded bag and cardboard record mailer for $9.50. Registered Post available at an additional cost. Thanks for looking, good luck!
