I’m listing a bunch of progressive rock and related items this week.

One of the great mysteries of the music industry is why Polydor U.K. turned down what would have been Fantasy’s second album when they had already released their debut Paint a Picture LP and signed them to a five-record deal. It just boggles the mind! But, almost 20 years after it was recorded, Beyond the Beyond finally got released, thanks to a small (now defunct) Norwegian label. And, almost unbelievably, it’s even better than Paint a Picture, which is itself a symphonic prog rock masterpiece! Recorded in 1974, this stunner was released in Norway on the Colours label in 1993, and they really did it right: Beyond the Beyond comes in a gorgeous gatefold cover with a 12-page booklet (in English) that includes a band interview, old reviews and other information. This is a limited edition (1045 copies made) and it is hand-signed. Needless to say, this is long out of print and quite sought after. The cover and the record are both in M-- condition.
