Description

Please note: due to a recent run of late/non paying buyers, I would request that payment be made within 24 hours of end of auction. Thanks!
Up for grabs is a rare copy of the Fantastic Plastic Machine soundtrack lp record, composed and conducted by Harry Betts. Incredibly, this copy is still sealed in its original factory shrink wrap! Original US pressing on Epic Records.
This surf movie was released in the late 60s, and was a documentary following members from the US Wind n Sea surf club as they travelled around the Pacific. The Australian section features the surfing of Nat Young (depicted in the front and rear cover), Midget Farrelly, George Greenough and Bob McTavish, who's revolutionary board design gave the film it's name. The film, book and movie were all a failure and all but disappeared with little impact...it's only in recent years that collectors have realised the historical significance of the movie and the scarcity of the soundtrack and accompanying book.
Condition wise, the factory seal is still intact with no splits or tears. There is a small cancellation punch hole to the top left, slight corner bumps to cover and some minor spotting....can't tell if it's on the plastic or the cover itself though. Presumably, the record will be in mint unused condition.
I'm also selling a very rare copy of the related "Fantastic Plastic Voyage" book, so be sure to check out that auction. They would make for a great lot, especially if you could hunt down an original poster or handbill!
Can pickup fromRye, Vic, or will happily post Australia wide for $10 flat rate. Registered/insured/express post is available upon request. Thanks for looking, good luck!
