INCREDIBLY RARE ORIGINAL FIRST US PRESSING LP on CLIP-SO RECORDS (CL 1000-1).

AMAZING and CULT DIY MASTERPIECE from SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, by HOPELESSLY OBSCURE ARTIST FAMOUS L. RENFROE (funny thing he calls himself “famous” when nobody knows who he is).

ABSOLUTELY KILLER OUTSIDER GOSPEL SOUL FUNK BLUES with BOOMING RAW PRODUCTION SOUND, featuring Mr. Renfroe on all instruments except drums, including bizarre overdubbed falsetto for “female” backing vocals.

Reissued by Big Legal Mess records a while back, but here’s a PRISTINE ORIGINAL COPY, in all its glory. As far as I know, only A HANDFULL OF ORIGINAL COPIES of this LP are known. I’ve had this particular copy in my collection since 2010.

An INCREDIBLE ITEM for the discerning OUTSIDER MUSIC / GOSPEL BLUES / SOUL FUNK collector.

“It paradoxically sounds both of its time and timeless; it holds the same shoddy charm of an Alan Lomax field recording, while the soulful backup singers and funk beats place it firmly in the late 1960s. Renfroe's exceptional music finds the continuity between delta blues and contemporary R&B, executed with an ease and a wistfulness that makes you wonder why it took so long for the record to be rescued from the depths of obscurity.”

Vinyl is in EX condition (close to NM, with only a few light paper scruffs. I'm calling it EX to be as conservative as possible with the grading of this rare item). Sleeve is in NM condition, still in shrink wrap. There's one small triangular tear in the shrink, near the bottom seam.Top copy.
