This Auction is for an unplayed set of test pressings for Original Recordings Group for the audiophile classic Falla "The Three Cornered Hat" mastered from the original analogue master tapes at 45 RPM and pressed on 180 Gram vinyl. Cover photo is for reference only, comes with generic cover. OPENED & UNPLAYED....
This test pressing set is the closest representation of the analogue master tapes. 1 of 10 copies made.
"ORG reissued this classic over four LP sides, and also included two selections from Falla’s opera La Vida Breve. The advantages of the 45RPM mastering and silent surfaces are plain as day. The label’s engineers also tamed the brightness that was typical on some early London LPs. Just listen to “Miller’s Dance” with its pounding rhythms and massed strings, the saucy quote from Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, or the concluding “Jota,” with its sharp brass attacks and bass drum thwacks. As good as the original recording was—and still is—ORG managed to improve a legendary recording that I did not think could be bettered.
