This is a very scarce first press of JOy Division's classic second album Closer.

The vinyl shines translucent red when you hold it up to a bright light. Sorry for the poor quality photo of this but it's not easy to capture on film!

The inner sleeve has rounded corners, unlike the square edges on later presses. The sleeve is made out of a 'suede finish' card stock, unlike the glossy covers of later pressings. 

Matrix numbers are FACT25 A1 Old Blue? and FACT 25 B-1.

Condition (please note that I use the Record Collector Grading System to rate the condition of records and covers – see below, but please contact me if you wish to clarify):

Record – VG (few light marks)

Cover – VG - as with all of these covers they are subject to wear due to the fragile material used, and this one has light wear around the edges. There is also some ringwear and discolouration and a small stain on the front cover (see photo). Seam split on bottom edge of inner sleeve.

Record Grading System

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised, as Sealed or Unplayed will be mint.

EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, possibly with light surface marks but there will be very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
