Rare 45 Rpm vinyl record of "Initial Shock". 1960's San Francisco's Premiere underground band.

Up for bids is the EXTREMELY RARE single “Mind Disaster” b/w “I Once Asked” by Mojo Collins, c1967, on the BFD Label! This single is one of only two recordings ever released by Initial Shock, and is one of the few records produced on the BFD Label. The playing condition of the single being offered in this auction is MINT. Even the original brown paper sleeve is near perfect! Only a few copies will be offered on eBay
" Initial Shock" only produced two records during their incredible time together as a band. "Mind Disaster b/w It's Not Easy" and "Long time Comin". Both were regional hits in the western USA and also in the Top 10 Southern Survey where the lead singer, Mojo Collins was and still is from. Members of the band included Mojo Collins, (guitar, lead vocals)(, Brian Knaff, (drums, vocals),George F. Wallace, (lead guitar), Steve Garr, (bass) and George A. Crowe (road manager). The band played with almost every major group during their rise to the top in the bay area. One concert poster featured Initial Shock as the headline group with Clover (Huey Lewis) as the second billed band and the Doobie Brothers as the opening act. The Initial shock were on many of the 1960's posters of concerts at the Avalon, Winterland, and The Fillmore West. The band never signed to a major recording contract and broke up in 1969 due to drugs and personal problems. Initial shock was a great band, had a huge following, and was a seminal musical addition to the psychedelic scene happening in SF. George Wallace, also known as George Firestone, was recognized as one of the finest guitarists and songwriters of his day. When he wasn't performing with IS, he often toured with Janis Joplin.
I just discovered that I have a few Initial Shock 45's; the lead guitarist and I were best friends for over 50 years until his untimely passing in March of 2004. His name was George Wallace, and for a time in the 60's we (Initial Shock) owned the famous Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco. I inherited a bunch of his stuff and I'm finally able to look through it. I know that there are a lot of Initial Shock fans out there, so I decided to auction a few of these single on ebay especially for you.
The few 45's I have found are like they're from a time capsule-brand new, never played. Perfect. I have a few, so if you want one for your collection, bid early and bid often. In the spirit of eBay, I have started the bidding at well below the record's value.
