Description
Everyday People - Born Too Soon (United Music World RSR-384), 197?
EXTREMELY RARE private hard rock garage psych album from a trio of South Carolinians, recorded sometime in the (mid?) 70's. This is EVERYTHING that a homemade rock record should be: loud, experimental, original yet derivative and flawed. These fellows touch almost all the bases (could have left the 2 slow, lounge music songs out for my tastes) and have a lot of fun along the way. You gotta love a band (supposedly with Xian-rock leanings) who say that they're "too damn mean to die" (in the song "I Ain't Going"): “And when that Reaper finds me, he’ll knock me to the ground / When he comes to get my soul, I won’t be lying down / I’ll stand right up and face him, and look him in the eye / ‘Cause everybody knows that I’m too damn mean to die. / I ain’t goin, I ain’t goin’, I ain’t goin’ " But the real treat on this record is the song "Stepping Out of Darkness" which I've seen described, fairly accurately, as MONSTER Acid Jesus Rock. Killer stuff. They don't make 'em like this anymore and we're none the better for it. Grab it while you can.
