Erede, Tebaldi, et al - Verdi IL TROVATORE - 3LPs Collector's Jacket - Decca SXL-2129-30-1 - RARE!!
Among the most sought after opera series on the planet are the early Black Label Decca ffss discs, of which this set is one.
It features the Chorus of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and L'Orchestre du Grand Theatre de Geneve, Alberto Erede at baton, with soloist support from some Italian notables, to say the least:
Mario Del Monaco plays Manrico; Giorgio Tozzi is Ferrando; Ugo Savarese is The Count di Luna; Renata Tebaldi plays Leonora; and Azucena is played by Giuletta Simionato.
This most typical of Italian operas comes sleeved in a collector's jacket of padded plastic, with a main view window that allows you to see the cover of the booklet within. Inside, two see-thru sleeves harbor the three ffss discs, which will play NM- to VG+ (perhaps better). Very clean, indeed.
Note, that the plastic sleeving on these often bubbled and this one has as well, though to no detriment to either playability or appearance, in my view, this being the classic that it is:
The original release in stereo, from the renowned opera staff at Decca, in plainly fine shape. A vinyl classic, truly of the first order.
