TODAY, I'M SELLING SOME OF MY CHERISHED EMITT RHODES COLLECTION! THE VINYL HAS BEEN ON MY SHELF FOR OVER 45 YEARS! Read The Details Below... Emitt was one of my favorite artists back in 1970s. And, because he wasn't that well-known, his albums soon went to the cut out bins. I bought at least a dozen copies of Emitt Rhodes and Mirror back in the day, mostly to give to friends, because they were so cheap as cut-outs. I kept one sealed copy of each on my shelves... for nearly 45 years. My hoarding problem is your gain.

What's NOT For Sale... I scanned a letter (just so you can read) from Emitt Rhodes wife, Kathy, dated January 1st, 1977. I had written Emitt to ask him why he disappeared and hadn't released any records since 1973's Farewell To Paradise. I was touched she took the time to respond. Something else I've kept all these years. See the pics. Enjoy.

EMITT RHODES
Emitt Rhodes (12" LP, 1970) ABC/Dunhill DS 50089 FACTORY SEALED Cut-Out
This is Emitt's 1970 debut, still factory sealed. The plastic is aged, and there IS a small, 2" shelf wear split on the bottom edge (see pic), but all else is near perfect, like its been in a time capsule. Because, it HAS in a way. NOTE: The cut out hole is barely noticeable on front (see the close up pic), while it's more noticeable on back. In fact, it's not a big hole at all, but a small punch.
Everyone knows that Emitt recorded his albums by himself, guitars, drums, bass, harmonies... everything. LONG before it was fashionable to do so. In fact, Emitt was recording his debut album at the SAME TIME that Paul McCartney was recording HIS solo debut LP. One of the reasons it's so good is who else is involved besides Emitt... The album was mixed at famed Sound City Studios, the cover design was by Cal Schenkel (Frank Zappa fame), photography by the the great Ed Caraeff, and the album was mixed by legendary greats, Curt Boettcher and Keith Olsen. So while Emitt recorded it alone, it became a minor masterpiece with the help of some future legends. 4-1/2 Stars from The All Music Guide, who called Emitt's debut "a true classic of the period."
SIDE A With My Face On The Floor (3:06) Somebody Made For Me (2:23) She's Such A Beauty (2:21) Long Time No See (3:14) Lullabye (1:05) Fresh As A Daisy (2:46)
SIDE B Live Till You Die (2:44) Promises I've Made (3:21) You Take The Dark Out Of The Night (2:54) You Should Be Ashamed (2:38) Ever Find Yourself Running (2:34) You Must Have (2:04)
ALL MUSIC GUIDE 4-1/2 STAR REVIEW Although it probably wasn't meant as such, this self-titled album is Emitt Rhodes' definitive statement. Soon after disbanding the Merry-Go-Round (of "Live" fame), Rhodes scored a solo deal with Dunhill. Rather than recording with a band or using studio musicians (which he did with his first "solo" album American Dream), the multi-instrumentalist decided to build a small, primitive home studio and record the entire affair there, "At Home." The results are, in a word, staggering. Tracks such as "With My Face on the Floor," "Someone Made For Me," and the entire album as a whole showcase Rhodes' genius, and in the end, the songs are probably what most Beatles-maniacs wanted to hear from Paul McCartney's debut album. Rhodes' individuality shines through despite this; the album is a true classic of the period.
