Description
Emile Berliner invented the flat disc record and player (Which he called the Gramophone) about 1888. (No, it wasn't Edison.) His first records appeared on the market by the end of the 19th century. They were a bit crude, but they weren't wax and easier to transport than the Edison cylinders.
They also eventually took over the record market.
This 7 inch Berliner from his factory is in very good to excellent condition. The music is quite loud and clear. (for a Berliner.)
The last patent date is Oct. 29th 1895.
The "WRITTEN etched label says "Schimishe (sp) Nancy Hanks, Band.
The record # is 19Y.
It's a great collectors item and conversation piece.
