Description
One of two Elvis related box-sets currently listed, see my other items:
SPD-15 Jukebox Promotion Kit with box & extras
This listing has only the Elvis record with its inner sleeve, which promotes the company that
manufactured the jukebox strips. The vinyl and labels are all VG+. The box has a good hinge connecting
the top and bottom. There is a bit of rub-wear on the box bottom as well as top
In the mid-'50s jukeboxes were located everywhere, as record companies marketed their products in
restaurants, diners, coffee shops, & bars in addition to radio and TV..
In order to get the jukebox operators to load their records in the jukeboxes, record companies sent out
promo kits, with at least one set of jukebox strips, though some diners had as many as 20 record selectors
at the tables, all connected to the records on the one jukebox.
This particular kit was actually Elvis' first pressing for RCA, containing 4 tracks from his Sun years.
Included are several clippings from then current issues of Billboard, showing RCA artists' standing on the
charts, also included are a full set of jukebox strips (see pics).
The Vinyl and labels are all VG+; the box top and bottom are connected with a substantial hinge.
The box shows slight rub wear on the front as well as the back, with only one scrape on the bottom
edge opposite the title side. The title COUNTRY & WESTERN JUKEBOX PROMOTION KIT, RCA LOGO,
& SPD-15 are all legible in gold-leaf lettering on the spine (see pics).
