Elvis Orange Label on Rigid Vinyl from 1968 to 1970, RARE!

"Burning Love Records"

 Item:  "Elvis  Is Back"  RARE Orange label on Rigid Vinyl

Catalog Number: LSP-2231

Condition Of Item:   G/VG++

Date of Issue:   1968

Today's Auctions:  RCA had traditionally used a black label for their pop record releases for many years that featured Nipper the dog on the label.  In 1968 they decided to modernize their labels and drop Nipper and create a new RCA logo for their labels and the label color would change from black to orange.  The vinyl under the label would stay the same as the older pressings done on the industry standard, heavy rigid vinyl.  Also what was interesting about the orange label is many of the covers that were made with the new re-issue LP's was that the album covers would be caught between the change and some interesting cover variations would occur.  I will try and point those out on each LP.  Most of the Elvis original LP's were re-issued on this 1968 pressing and most are very rare.  As the day goes on you will find several albums that were released originally on this label as well, starting with the "Elvis NBC TV" album.  Some great items here, most in near mint to mint shape.  As always I combine shipping and also still start at $9.99 with no reserve.  As most of you have noticed on ebay, most Elvis records that have collectable value now have high set prices and of course you are seeing fewer and fewer collectable Elvis records being sold, the market is tightening up.  So check this great line of Elvis rigid orange label records, may not see a collection like this again!

  No Closer Look At the Item:   I have only offered this LP a few times over the past 15 years, I have found it to be a very hard label to locate.  This cover has some ring wear, the picture makes it look more dramatic than it is, but i will call it Good because of the ring.  The spine and edges are all in good shape, the LP opens up in a gatefold set up with some great Elvis army pictures inside.  The record here is the orange label and again it is in very nice shape!  Just a few tiny paper scuffs only visible under a bright light hold this back from pure mint.  The inner sleeve is also present, making this the complete 1968 pressing.

 Note on Packaging:  All items are in shipped in mylar resealable sleeves, the  finest in the industry today.  Also the records are not packaged inside the original sleeves, instead packaged separately in a generic sleeve so no damage to the sleeve occurs in transit.

Rating Guide:

Mint (M):  Perfect in every way, looks to have never been played, should have that look just as it did when you pulled the record from the new cover at the time of original purchase.

Mint Minus (M-):  A nearly perfect record and cover.  This item should show no readily visible signs of wear,  covers and sleeves should have no more than nearly invisible rings or other signs of slight wear and vinyl should still be completely glossy and shiney, just the very lightest hint of wear if it is tilted to very bright light.

Very Good Plus (VG+):  This record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled carefully by the previous owner.  Record surfaces will show some light signs of paper scuffing or light scratches, that don't affect the listening experience.  Slight warps that do not affect sound are OK.  This disc should still contain much of its original luster and sheen.  The covers and picture sleeves should also be in very nice shape, they may have light ring wear or other signs of wear, may have a small cut out hole, indention or stamping present.  Also there can be non obvious writing on the paper goods.

Very Good (VG):  Many of the defects found in the VG+ record and cover will be present but more pronounced in the VG item.  Surface noise will be evident, although the record should play through without skipping or repeating.  Groove wear will now be noticable, scuffing and light scratching will be appearent, a scratch now can be felt with a fingernail.  Labels will be marred with tape or tape residue, stickers or descret writing.  The same will be true for the LP cover or picture sleeve.

Good (G):  Good does not mean bad!  A record in good condition should be placed on a turntable and it should play through, all though the surface noise will be evident.  A cover or picture sleeve will have seam splitting, especially on the bottom seam or spine.  Also there will be noticable ring wear caused by the presence of the record.  The defects will start to overwhere this item.

Fair (F) or Poor (P):  This record will be cracked, badly warped, and will not play through without skipping or repeating.  The picture sleeeve or LP cover will show lots and lots of wear, the seams will be split on all three sides barely able to hold the record.  This item will appear near valueless, unless of course it is a rarity that may not be seen again.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
