Elvis Presley passed away on August 16, 1977. When this shocking news was announced in the late afternoon, thousands of people rushed into stores and bought every Elvis LP, 8-track and cassette they could find. People wanted to have Elvis records to keep the special memories of Elvis alive in their house. By the close of business that night, almost every store that sold records did not have any Elvis records or tapes in stock. The next day, stores bombarded RCA with orders for Elvis titles.  RCA quickly sold every Elvis record and tape they had in their warehouses and had to send back order notices for most of the orders. They started to manufacture all Elvis product as fast as they could but it took several weeks before they started shipping back orders for their Elvis catalog to stores. And it would be a few months before stores were restocked completely.  Sales of Elvis records continued at a high level during the remainder of 1977. 

We bought the private collection of a woman who bought every Elvis LP that was available in the later months of 1977. In fact, she bought 2 copies of every Elvis title. One copy to play and one copy to keep sealed. We are now offering some of the sealed copies on eBay.

"Roustabout" was originally released in 1964.
