Description

ELVIS PRESLEY - "ROUSTABOUT" (LSP-2999) - AN ORIGINAL 1964 HOLLYWOOD "STEREO" PRESSING WITH ALL SILVER PRINT!

RECORD:  VG with glossy surfaces along with several light surface scuffs & scratches. None of these scratches can be felt with the fingertip, but do result in some sporadic "ticks" upon play. I played this record in its entirety and RCA Victor's "New Orthophonic High Fidelity" does not disappoint! The vocals and instrumentation remain strong and there was not a single skip or repeat! Again, surface noise is present, especially in quiet areas. This record, which is valued at $350 in Near Mint in Jerry Osborne's "Presleyana VII", is strictly a Hollywood pressing in regards to the "Silver Top" labels. Hollywood was the last pressing plant to use the Silver Top "MONO" and "STEREO" labels and the "ROUSTABOUT" Soundtrack album was caught up in the transition phase from that Silver Top logo to the new White Top logo in late 1964. Matrix numbers on this record end with 1S/1S, a VERY early pressing! White Top copies of this album from the Indianapolis and Rockaway plants should NOT be regarded as "reissues" or "second pressings" as they do not exist with Silver Top logo labels as once believed. This is a great Original Soundrack Recording and I believe that it is one of Elvis' very best. Although no singles emerged from the album, Promotional White Label Copies of "Roustabout / One-Track Heart" were produced in October of 1964, in conjunction with the release of this album.

COVER:  VG++ with smooth and consistent edges and spine. Absolutely no seam splits, tape, writing or staple holes are present on this highly presentable cover. Very minimal ring wear can be seen on this cover, but there is a sliver of a scuff on the front; about the width of a pencil point. Beside that, there is a crescent shaped bend mark, presumably from removing the record. This is commonly seen on any given album cover. This very scarce Original Soundtrack Recording is a "must-have" for any avid collector of  Elvis Presley records and/or memorabilia.

INNER SLEEVE:  The original "ELVIS' GREAT LP CATALOG" inner sleeve from the era (40A).

GOOD LUCK!
