As I continue to auction my 35-year-plus collection of Elvis Presley records, you now have the opportunity to bid on this EXCELLENT copy of "FOR LP FANS ONLY" (LPM-1990) from 1959. The Matrix Numbers are (Side 1): J2 PP 8070-4S and (Side 2): J2 PP 8071-2S. This record is SO CLOSE to Near Mint! The vinyl retains full, original gloss and plays fantastic upon test!! There was just some audible static in the beginning of "That's All Right". I inspected the area very closely and could not see anything that would create that, so I'm assuming that it was that way since new. The labels are quite clean, but a previous owner was obviously pressing down while trying to find the spindle hole, as the spindle marks are a bit deep, but not so deep as to have cut through the labels. That is definitely the main detraction on this entire item. The cover is VG+ with just a 2-inch seam split at the top. There is some wear to the lower right corner along with some very light surface scuffing from contact with other LP's over the years. The spine remains fully intact, very clean and white with very legible lettering! There are a few wrinkles on the front and back sides, but they are not too distracting. There is definitely no tape, writing, grafitti, stickers or staple holes. As most long-time collectors are aware, this particular Elvis album is extremely difficult to locate in grades above VG, due to the fact that the great majority of the purchasers were teenagers of the time and the best care was not always exercised. Most of the covers have splits that run pretty long either on the top, bottom or even both! This record was obviously adult-owned throughout its life and its great condition is a testimony to that. This album will come with its original RCA Victor Inner Sleeve depicting other popular LP's of the era and shipped with the record separated from the cover to prevent seam splits from the record sliding around during transit.
