Featured Albums

  1. Elton John
The earliest album in the box set, originally released in 1970, this was the first album to launch Elton into the spotlight, with a tracklist including Your Song and Take Me To The Pilot.
  2. 17-11-70
Elton’s first live album was named after the date on which it was recorded in front of an intimate audience at famed A&R Studios in New York, with his original band of piano, bass and drums, and was released in 1971. This became his fourth album to simultaneously appear in the Billboard Top 100 charts in the US – a feat that had not been accomplished by any artist since The Beatles.
  3. Madman Across the Water
Released in 1971, and selected for this box set by Elton as one of his “favourite albums of all time”, it includes his classics Tiny Dancer and Levon as well as the epic Indian Sunset – a centrepiece of his current Million Dollar Piano concerts in Las Vegas.
  4. Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
Released in 1975, this autobiographical record detailing the early days of Elton and Bernie Taupin’s song writing partnership, was primarily written in the music room aboard the final voyage of the ocean liner SS France from Southampton to New York. The album was the first by any artist to enter at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts in the US.
  5. Too Low For Zero
Recorded on the Caribbean island of Montserrat and released in 1983, this was the first album in seven years to be completely comprised of songs written by Elton and Bernie. Also reuniting his 1970’s band, the tracklist includes I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues, One More Arrow, I’m Still Standing and Kiss the Bride.
  6. Songs From the West Coast
Previously unreleased on vinyl, this album was recorded in multiple studios across California and released in 2001. Featuring the hit singles I Want Love, This Train Don’t Stop There Anymore and Original Sin, this is one of Elton’s favourite albums “all the way through, from start to finish”.
