Description

Ella Fitzgerald LET NO MAN WRITE MY EPITAPH - Classic Records 2LP 45 RPM edition. Sealed, mint and LONG out of print. This was one of Classic's early forays into 45 rpm pressings. At the time, they issued the multi-disc sets as separate, sealed LPs. Subsequently they would place LP1 in a cover with full front and rear artwork, and the remaining LPs in generic white covers, and then seal them all together. Please see my 4LP 45 RPM sealed/mint copy of Louis Armstrong's "I've Got The World On A String" on offer this week; that's a perfect example of Classic's second phase of 45 rpm issues. 
Picture one shows the front covers side by side. Picture 2 and 3 is LP one (front and back) and Picture 4 and 5 is LP two (front and back). Both LPs are sealed and mint.

ABOUT 45 RPM PRESSINGS

While some folks don't like the 45 RPM format (yes, you do have to get up and change sides more often), it's not hype: with more vinyl real estate for your stylus to operate within, volume levels are maintained consistently across all tracks (with 33 1/3, as you get closer to the inner groove you will lose volume because the grooves get smaller), and there's LOTS more room for the bass frequencies. A mastering engineer has to juggle all these factors, usually leading to certain compromises, when pressing at 33 1/3. The common wisdom in the audiophile community is that, when done well, 45 rpm pressings are as close as you'll get to the master tape.
