Description

Eleh
Floating Frequencies/Intuitive Synthesis Volume 2
(Important Records, 2007)

Number 77 of a hand-numbered edition of 500; 200-gram vinyl, black-on-silver letterpress jacket. Vinyl and jacket both Near Mint.

"Anyone lucky enough to have caught the first volume in the Floating Frequencies/Intuitive Synthesis series will know precisely what to expect from this release: as the sleeve says: "Pure tone. Pure sound. Pure analog. Dedicated to Charlemagne Palestine." That's as strong a summary of this LP as you could hope for. Pressed on 200 gram audiophile vinyl with the utmost care and attention, the music of Eleh delves into the primordial analog drones you'd associate with the great pioneers of minimalist electronic synthesis (in addition to Charlemagne Palastine, Eliane Radigue and La Monte Young would be especially pertinent comparisons). Three lengthy pieces are spread across the LP's impeccably pressed sides, each exploring low end tonality with an astonishing level of warmth and harmonic richness. Of course, this isn't really music in any traditional sense, but rather an exquisite exercise in sound engineering, albeit an insanely mesmerising one. You might wonder what sort of long-term side-effects these frequencies are likely to have on your constitution - there's certainly something almost unprecedentedly physical about this record - it's something you can really feel - and inevitably the samples on the site can't do this monolithic LP justice. Pretty much essential for all you far-out drone connoisseurs. " Boomkat
