Description

The self-titled debut album by the supergroup Electronic (the 1991 release featuring New Order's Bernard Sumner and The Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr) is a highly collected piece of synth-pop/indie crossover history.

A sleeve test print (often a "sleeve flat" or a pre-production un-assembled cardboard proof sent to the label/designers for color checking) is extremely rare in the commercial market.

The primary white label test pressing and first commercial release matrix numbers etched into the vinyl runout (the "dead wax" area between the last track and the label) are detailed below.

Standard UK Vinyl Matrix (FACT 290)

Side A: FACT-290-A1 \(\star \) MAX. TY2
Side B: FACT-290-B1 \(\star \) MAX. TY2

Matrix Breakdown

FACT-290: The unique catalog sequence assigned by the label.

-A1 / -B1: Denotes the first lacquer cut for Side A and Side B.

MAX: Stands for Max (Abbots), a renowned mastering engineer associated with the cutting of this release.

TY2: A distinctive stamp/etching often linked directly to the pressing plant.

True white label test pressings will feature completely blank or plain white labels.
