BACKGROUND TO THIS RECORD:

This is the 1966 1st mono pressing  on the  Australian yellow/black Parlophone label . I sold their 3rd album towards the end of April this year for £61( Item No: 290221864925. Its on the 2nd page of my feedback reports). Barring a stain along the perimeter on the back (see my detailed grading below) it is generally in far better condition especially in terms of sonics, and I suppose starting it at half of that price at £30 without any reserve seems reasonable.

GRADING RESULTS:

I would rate the front cover as a strong Excellent and the back as VG++.  There are no tears, writings etc  on the front cover and all 4 edges are still sharp and still  maintain their rigidity with only a couple of faint creases on the laminate. Though the back is generally clean and the glue on the triple flipback still strong and intact, there is a brownish stain along the triple flipback. This was caused by the presence of a cellophone sticker which the previous owner had taped around the flipback to keep it intact. It has been removed, and I reiterate, that the original glue on the flipback is still strong and intact( If any interested bidder requires close ups of the back please let me know). There is no seam split and the lettering on the spine is still sharp and legible.

The vinyl looks visually looks Near Mint on Side 1 with no surface scratches. Side 2 looks Excellent as there is a very faint hairline suface scratch on Track 1 but which could not be felt and which did not affect play at all. There are no visible spindle marks. Tracking at 1.7g on my Naim Aro arm and Lyra Helikon cartridge, the playing on both sides was generally  Near Mint. There are a couple of faint soft clicks in the run in grooves but other than that no surface noise even in the silent grooves between tracks.

How I Clean and  Grade my Records

Cleaning: Cleaning is usually done on a Loricraft PRC 4 cleaning machine and/or VPI 17.5 using the US made Walker Audio stage cleaning solution.

Playback Equipment: Playback is through a Linn LP12 turntable/Armeggedon/Naim Aro tonearm/Linn Troika cartridge and through a brace of active Naim 250s/135s into Naim DBL speakers. For 45s I use a second Linn/Lingo/Aro/Lyra Helikon SL.

I use both Goldmine and Rare Record Price Guide grading system as a guide and came up with the following:

·       Mint  I only use this for sealed items. The record is virtually unplayed and is in a brand new condition. Cover is pristine. Up till now, I have never used this grading and, chances are, never will, due to my conservative nature in matters of record grading.

·       Near Mint  Very little or negligible flaws. Faint lines or very faint creasing  on laminated covers visible under a strong light is acceptable but nothing serious. Records which show some signs of having been played such as very faint spindle marks are allowed but there should be no lessening in sound quality. .

·       Excellent   Item obviously played, though not often, and enjoyed with some slight noise. The record should be nice and shiny but may have a few light marks which should not intrude on play. Slight wear on cover is acceptable.

·         Very Good Many more imperfections which are noticeable but not obtrusive. The record has been played several times but there should be no major deterioration in sound quality despite some noticeable surface marks and light scratches. Normal wear and tear or writings on the cover  is acceptable but there should not be any major tears.

I do not offer any records below Very Good  unless its extremely rare.

Shipping costs

I use brand new custom made  plastic sleeves  for both the vinyl and for the sleeve. Shipping is always by Airmail and by registered post as it allows one to track items in case of delays. Shipping costs in £ are:

LPs :

8.50 for the first

for the subsequent ones

I have increased the postage slightly for the 2nd item onwards for 2 reasons. One, the pound has dropped vis-a-vis the Singapore dollar and the postal authorities have also increased the rates and I have been absorbing it for some time.  I will  inform buyers of the registration details through Email on posting.

Forms of payment that I accept include:

·       PAYPAL (preferred choice)

·       International Money Orders
