ETHEL MERMAN on 1934 Brunswick “I Get a Kick Out of You” Original COCAINE Lyrics
Brunswick 7342, 78 RPM
Record is in V++ / V condition, plays quite nicely, a scratch is audible on the latter part of "You're the Top". Labels are good.
ETHEL MERMAN with Johnny Green and his Orchestra performing I Get a Kick Out of You / You're the Top.
Two Great Cole Porter Songs from "Anything Goes".
1934 issue; recorded in New York, December 4, 1934.
“I Get a Kick Out of You” includes the original lyrics:
“Some get a kick from cocaine,
I'm sure that if,
I took even one sniff,
That would bore me terrifically, too,
Yet I get a kick out of you.”
Some later performances edited out these controversial lines.
Terrific and Scarce Ethel Merman / Johnny Green 78 in Nice condition.
