EPITAPH MOVEMENT

How is it that an impossibly rare and obscure little band from Lawrence, Kansas can become so sought after by FUNK collectors? It's because they put out this one magnificent record. Epitaph intended the topside to be the song "Captain Bobby Stout," which is a pretty great song, but it's the flipside that gets all the action.

That's where you'll find "Epitaph Movement" which is a funk instrumental that really drives. It's become such a classic that it turned up on the Jazzman CD collection of funk rarities 'Midwest Funk.' It was also featured in the recent film Crossover which centers around a naturally talented basketball player, who is determined to become a doctor using his basketball scholarship.

This is an original pressing of this remarkable 45 that turned up recently on a trip to the heart of Kansas. Boy, was I surprised to find this among the Billy Ocean and Ray Parker Jr. 45s.!
