A GREAT COLLECTOR'S ITEM! HERE IT IT-AN ORIGINAL ELVIS SUN 78RPM!
From my personal collection a 10" 78rpm ORIGINAL copy of SUN 217 ' Baby Let's Play House/ I'm left You're Right She's Gone' by Elvis Presley. This is the original shellac copy. This record was released in the US on April 10th 1955, the fourth of the five Sun singles.
Because of the fragile nature of the Sun 78s fewer copies have found their way to the UK than the 45rpm issues and so are much harder to come by.
The playing surface shows general wear as one would expect with light scratches and the odd scratch more noticeable, however the 78 does still retain a sheen. I have listened to both sides carefully and although there is a very low background noise there are no ticks, pops, stops or jumps at all. It plays very nicely with a very clear authentic sound- even now I still listen in awe, 54 years on since someone played it for the first time.
The labels are clean with some wear as shown in the pic. No writing or tears on either side which makes it an excellent display copy. Normally at some point someone writes on the label or puts a sticker on so this is a bonus and something Sun collectors look for. You will notice some spindle wear around the central hole.
The trail off numbers are u-143-z and u-142 respectively as they should be.
ALSO SUITABLE FOR FRAMING!! AS WITH ALL MY AUCTIONS THIS IS A VERY LOW START FOR SUCH AN OUTSTANDING ITEM. FROM THE OPENING BID THERE IS NO RESERVE SO HIGHEST BIDDER WILL WIN THIS HISTORIC 78.
Rest assured I have a long experience with Elvis Sun 45s and 78s and this is the original, however I won't be putting any more of my Elvis Sun 45s/78s up so this is the only opportunity for the forseeable future.
