Description

"Trying To Get To You"/"I Love You Because" (RCA) 47-6639 MINT!

In August, 1956, when "Elvis Mania" was at fever pitch after 3 consecutive #1 singles ("Heartbreak Hotel", "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" & the double-sided "Don't Be Cruel"/"Hound Dog"), RCA released all the tracks from the "Elvis Presley" album on 6 different singles. This single features 2 previously unreleased Sun recordings that RCA acquired from Sam Phillips when they purchased Elvis' contract in late 1955. "Trying To Get To You", was originally recorded by the R&B group, the Eagles & probably would have been Elvis' 6th Sun single if he had stayed on the label. The mournful ballad, "I Love You Because", was written & originally recorded by blind country performer Leon Payne. It was actually the first track recorded at the July 5th, 1954 session at 706 Union that produced "That's All Right", Elvis' groundbreaking debut single. This is the original U.S. RCA mono pressing (47-6639) from 1956- it was soon replaced with the "Gold Standard Series" 45 with the 447 prefix. It has the U.S. RCA black "dog on top" labels with silver lines on the sides. The record is in great MINT condition. There are no scratches or scuffs on either side- this obscure single rarely turns up in this condition. Complete with the original generic RCA sleeve.
