Description
This auction is for a rare Elvis Presley 1950s original single record released as Sun 210, with “Good Rockin' Tonight” and “I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine”.
This original Sun rockabilly 45 is from our personal vinyl collection, and was acquired during a trip to Sun Studios in Memphis in 2011. It was recorded in Memphis in September 1954.
The label includes: "I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine" (Mack David)“Famous ASCAP U-130, Vocal 2:27” on one side, and "Good Rockin' Tonight" (Roy Brown).“U-131, Vocal 2:10” on the other. U 5, 7
This is an original 1950’s record and not a later reproduction (or a fake).
- It has three “push marks” on each side under the label.
- The matrix numbers are stamped about 1/4" to the right of the label; one side reads "U-130-45 72", and the other "U-131-45 72". The distance between the numbers “45” and “72” on each side is a bit less than ½". (Please note: One distinguishing feature of the original 1950’s Sun singles is the location of the last two digits in the dead wax, the “72” on the first four Suns. On the originals (1950's), the last two digits are approximately ½ inch from the other digits. On the 1970's Sun 45s, the distance is more than an inch.)
954: Good
This vintage single has fine display value, and would make a nice addition to an early Elvis or Sun vinyl collection!
Condition notes:
- There are no chips nor cracks, and the vinyl is not warped at all. The center hole is fully intact.
- It has the typical scratches and wear of a well-played record of this age.
- There are sticker remnants on the “Good Rockin” side; please see the photo for details.
- In my opinion, this plays as a solid “Good” vinyl, and I am conservative grader. I played it once through, and it played all the way without any skips, just the usual background noise or"Sun hiss"; this is typical of Elvis' Sun singles, especially the first four.
- It could use a good cleaning which would likely improve the sound as well as the appearance.
- Please see the photos for more condition details.
This is a NO RESERVE auction. Bid with confidence. My feedback speaks for itself, and I have sold individual vinyls on eBay for $400+.
I will do all I can to get it to you in fine condition! It will be shipped with the vinyl in a new sleeve with a new cardboard mailer and inserts for protection. It can be sent with a vintage Sun Record Company sleeve for display purposes at no charge if requested (it is not an original from this record.)
Feel free to message with any questions you have before bidding, and thank you for checking out this listing!
