This is not from my personal collection, but as a seller of Elvis autographs (please see my feedback for previous sales), I have been asked to sell this on behalf of a friend.  The item is currently in MY possession and I will be dealing with the sale personally...

This is Elvis' original HAND SIGNED autograph on a small scrap of paper.  It is signed simply 'Elvis Presley' - he rarely wrote anything else... but what is so interesting is that this has been signed in pencil, which is very unusual.  1965 was a quiet year for Elvis  other than the movies he didn' really do much, and this autograph was obtained on the set of 'Harum Scarum' (or 'Harem Holiday' as us british fans know it) - apparently Elvis was taking a 'break' and a cleaner on the set ripped a piece of paper from the inside of a cleaning materials packet and obtained the autograph as Elvis emerged from the bathroom (I hope Elvis had washed his hands!).  This provenance came from the gentleman who obtained it, an american gent named Hank (aren't they all?) Kosta.  He worked for the 'NGP Recruitment' company who supplied temporary supply staff for the studio, such as cleaners, maintenance etc...  This was then passed on to his son Joseph who has kept it ever since.  Joseph is now looking to sell this item and we first became friends when I sold him some rare Elvis vinyl a few years back from a collection which was left to me.

Items from 1965 are quite rare from Elvis as he was more or less a recluse from the public - career-wise I mean - apart from the movies there was nothing else he was doing. 

It's in pencil, not ink!  Thank god nobody rubbed it out!!!!!!! (If you have mischevous children, pleas bid with caution!!...)

CONDITION:  PLEASE READ CAREFULLY... I believe this paper was originally white, but alas it is white no more.. the years have not been kind to this - according to Mr. Kosta Jnr, this was framed by his wife when it came into HIS collection, but had previously not been.  It is being sold UNFRAMED - it has been out of it's frame for some time.  Both the front and back have major discolouration - personally I think that adds to the character of the piece.  This COULD be neatened up - ie, the edges cut nice and neat but I will not be doing any of that - I think it is more special the way it is.  The AUTOGRAPH, however, has not been so badly treated - it is still quite clear.  The signed side of the paper feels smooth and glossier than the back, which has not discoloured as much.  I do not know how this was originally kept by Mr. Kosta Snr, or how it came to be so worn - I assume the top tears and scuffs were there before it was signed.

OVERALL, this is a wonderful piece.  I would have purchased it myself but I am trying to down size my own collection not add to it. 

AUTHENTICITY:  The winning bidder will receive  letter of provenance signed by Mr. Joseph Kosta Jnr (Mr. K. Snr is deceased!) and myself, with full contact details.  I have sold several Elvis autographs before, some through ebay, some not - they were all from a collection bequeathed to me.  I have always tried to provide as much information as possible, however, please remember that I was not there when this was signed, nor was Mr. K. Jnr.  Mr. K Snr was known as an honest man who had no reason to make up a story about this as he had no ntention of ever selling the piece himself. ELVIS autographs can be looked at on the internet - there are a couple of sites which show you what to look for in real ones - the 'Elvis' and the 'P' are joined, the 'i' is topped with a line and not a dot... PLEASE SATISFY YOURSELF WITH THE AUTHENTICITY OF THIS PIECE BEFORE BIDDING.
