RCA VICTOR LPM-1254 (MONO - US for GERMAN IMPORT) - ELVIS PRESLEY

I am pleased to offer this very fine and sought-after ELVIS collectible. I have rarely seen it for sale, but I did see one offered in Goldmine a few years back with a starting bid of $1000! Here is a writeup about the issue from noted Price Guide author Neal Umphred:

“During the 1950s, RCA Victor leased time with a German pressing plant for custom work. These pressings were then placed in Army PXs for sale to American military personnel. The albums are a weird hybrid, with the front and back cover artwork taken from US plates. The records themselves are different. They are graphically similar to the then current labels used by RCA in Germany, being a basic black with silver print. The famous logo at the top of Nipper listening to “his master’s voice” on an old gramophone is a silver line drawing rather than the more familiar doggie on domestic discs. All of the print is in English. On the bottom of the labels, around the perimeter is ‘Radio Corporation of America - Camden, NJ - Made In USA’, but scratched in the trail-off vinyl is a ‘Manufactured In Germany’.
Exactly how many were pressed remains a mystery, but they are more than a little rare (nearly 50) years later! For this reason and the fact that these items would probably have been on the PX shelves at the same time as Pvt. Presley was stationed in Germany, these remain interesting additions to any Elvis collection.”

I have been informed that since our copy has a PX price sticker on back - not a PX rubber stamp - that it is a true-first pressing!

DISC = NM(-) Nearly nm -- very strong and clean copy! Excellent gloss - very light play - a few paper-type handling marks - no deep scratches. Beautiful labels!

COVER = EXCELLENT Very little storage wear - 3” split top - 6” split bottom - note minor scuff/tears on front cover.
