ELVIS PRESLEY 7 INCH METAL ACETATE
BLUE RIVER
The record we are offering here is an original United States RCA Victor metal acetate pressing, and a true Holy Grail type find for an Elvis collector. This one-sided record has a black and white RCA Victor Reference Recording label, which at the bottom reads “Radio Corporation Of America, RCA Victor Record Division, Made In U.S.A.”. Hand written on the label is “2:10” (time), “Blue River, Elvis Presley, 5PKM-7357-1”. The record has a small LP size spindle hole in the center, and a second LP size spindle hole about an inch away from the center hole which is covered by the record label.
Acetate records were generally made as trial records for executives to hear, and most of the time these records were disposed of. Although we are unsure how many of these were made, it is safe to say that it was very, very few. And of those few, it is almost certain that even fewer remain.
CONDITION: One of the nicer condition acetates we have seen in awhile, by any artist. It looks like it has had only a small number of easy plays. The only mark that could even qualify as a scratch is a super light hairline measuring 1/4 inch, which is nowhere near being able to be felt on the grooves. Even under a strong lamp the only other thing this record shows is just a bit of light surface scuffing and surface marking. The only “chipping away” of the black material covering the metal disc is a very small area on the blank side around the center spindle hole. We are grading this record a nice EX.
