Extremely, extremely RARE late 50’s Elvis compilation LP entitled Elvis Presley Rocks released on the renowned RCA VICTOR label ( with catalogue number 31.212 ) What makes this release so special is simply that it was only released here in south Africa, therefore one of its kind and it is one of the hardest Elvis records to find anywhere! Another point to mention is that the back cover contains a scarce picture of Elvis in his youth military days, with his autograph printed ‘Best Wishes Elvis Presley’. The elusive front cover is just enough to attract any Elvis collector – even though it was used for a previous Elvis EP entitled ‘Just For You’. It is very, very difficult to find the few Elvis, south Africa-only albums in our country, so you may not see this again for a very long time – an almost impossible find seriously. Ask anyone with Elvis records and this one they won’t mention.

Cover - Of course, something as rare as this is usually acceptable in any condition therefore this one is no different – not near mint but at least in just ‘very good’ condition. The cover is not ‘wrecked’ but has stood the test of time meaning it does suffer from a few noticeable flaws. The spine is a little worn, so much that the album title and artist name doesn’t reflect ;a few long creases on about the bottom half of front cover, faint ring wear at the bottom ; a number of small brownish spots/stains at the back including a larger one on the blue signature of presumably the previous owner. Therefore, this deserves a VG- but is close to VG. 

Labels – in very good condition, except some scribbling next to the perimeter text above catalogue number (1st side) The second side is a lot better – both sides have very, very minimal spindle wear

Vinyl – deserves the VG grade. Certainly displays evidence of plentiful play with lots of small-long ‘hair lines’ scattered on both sides, as well as scuff marks. However, it could have been worse. These defects still do not detract from the sheer rarity and beauty of this LP.

To sum it all up, VG-/VG grading for the Elvis Presley Rocks LP. A far cry from near mint, however still doesn’t take away that this is a beautiful item and extremely RARE to find, especially now that it is about 56 years old!
