MEGARARE original DJM Records very first STEREO press released, made and distributed in Chile in 1976 by DISCOS BANGLAD (Banglad Records), licensed from DJM Records, England, catalog number LP DJ-168, with hand etched matrix numbers LP-DJ-168-A EB-CD in Side A and LP-DJ-168-A EB-CD in Side B, with tricolor/black Banglad/DJM Records labels. It’s very interesting to notice that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact day of pressing, “2-4-76” (April 2nd of 1976). Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND of Elton John from Chile!!!

“ROCK OF THE WESTIES” was released in 1975 but we had to wait until 1976 to see this another great album by Elton John released here in Chile. And like usual those years, the cover in Chile is UNIQUE, it’s a flipback cover made of 2 pieces of thin cardboard, with laminated front cover pasted on the flips of non-laminated back cover. Front cover keeps the original artwork, the face of Elton John, but in Chile the title for this album is written at top right corner, “ISLEÑA” (Island Girl), with a yellow circle informing in Spanish “Includes GROW SOME FUNK OF YOUR OWN” at bottom left corner, and a big “1” with the text in Spanish “Number One In USA” at bottom right corner. Back cover also keeps the original photo, but in Chile the tracklist is written in Spanish only and printed on the sky of the photo with pink lettering. In labels the album title and tracklist are written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters. So, here you have a great chance to get the album “Rock Of The Westies” by Elton John with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE FRONT COVER DESIGN and UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE, which you will only find in this Chilean issue!!! And what a great condition of both cover and record!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX or EX+ condition, clean and clear, some minimal wear in the corners and edges, with lamination complete and solid, no ring marks, blemishes or writings, with not even seam splits. The record is in strong EX or EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with only light scuffs and hairlines hard to see at first sight, which of course don’t affect play at all. Labels are in EX or EX+ both sides, with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong EX or EX+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with some occasional light crackles here and there, more evident in the silent parts, which don’t really cause a major distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end, most of songs play in superb NM condition. Overall, a great record with a great look, almost immaculate labels and superb sound quality after almost 40 years. A MUST TO HAVE for all Elton John fans and collectors!!! And don’t forget the UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE DESIGN and UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE!!! Yes Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

SHIPPING (Packing and Postage)

We have an unique value worldwide:

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP7 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
