Description
Artist & Title: Emerson, Lake & Palmer ?– Brain Salad Surgery
Rare genuine 1973 UK FIRST ISSUE 8-track vinyl LP, housed in a superb fold-out, die-cut, H.R.Geiger designed sleeve with company catalogue inner and large fold-out die-cut lyric poster. This original first UK version has heavy US pressed vinyl with 'MC46669' number printed on the picture labels.
The record, which looks immaculate, is in Excellent condition and sounds as wonderful as ever, and the cover, inner sleeve and poster are all in Excellent/Near Mint condition with minimal shelf-wear and sharp corners and edges. A superb copy of this very important progressive rock album!
Highly desirable for its G SRC first pressing matrices and Excellent condition vinyl, and increasingly difficult to find in good condition, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this superb rarity to your collection at an extremely advantageous price.

Important Note: The actual first UK release of this album was pressed in the USA by Atlantic Records at Speciality Records Corporation. Only first pressings of this title have SRC's logo after the machine stamped matrix numbers (the large S with small R and C in the loops of the S) and must have -G stampers both sides. These discs were imported back into the UK and housed in the UK first edition sleeve with the catalogue number K53501 on rear and spine and Manticore Records logo distributed by WEA Records Ltd on rear (only UK issues were housed in this sleeve) This 1st pressing was released on November 19, 1973 in both the US and the UK at the same time. Later issues were printed with a Manticore/WEA catalogue number and are pressed on thinner vinyl. Original pressing comes in a fold out jacket with a poster. It is this original first UK issue that is offered for sale here.
This historic LP from ELP’s creative peak is hardly ever offered for sale in this collectable condition.
This is the extremely rare real thing: a genuine Ex/Ex condition UK first issue. The record is in Excellent condition while the cover, poster and inner sleeve fully merit an Excellent to Near Mint grading. All items are free from any major defects like scratches, tears, creases, stickers, writing, dog ears, stains or the like and the large fold-out poster is unused and new looking. See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1973 not reprints or replacements. The LP is the original UK 1973 stereo LP, which was only played occasionally on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.
“Sublime! Great progressive rock! This is Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's masterpiece.”
THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLES OF THIS HISTORIC ALBUM EVER OFFERED FOR SALE IN RECENT TIMES
Brain Salad Surgery is the fourth studio album by progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released in 1973 and the first under their Manticore Records imprint. It fuses rock and classical themes. Greg Lake wrote the lyrics for the album with the assistance (on two tracks, "Karn Evil 9: 3rd Impression" and "Benny the Bouncer") of former King Crimson bandmate (and, beginning with this album, frequent ELP collaborator) Peter Sinfield. This was the first Emerson, Lake & Palmer album to have no songwriting contributions from Carl Palmer. The cover art is by H.R.Giger.
This may be your only ONCE IN A LIFETIME chance to own this rare piece of rock history in this condition.
“One of the greatest prog albums ever.”
If I could only have one ELP album, this would be the one. They travelled into musical territory in this album that I've never heard anyone else achieve, and the attention to detail is extraordinary. There are moments of melody and harmony throughout the work that transcend their own form, e.g., spots during the middle section of Karn Evil 9 where the energy level changes like a race-car shifting gears. The fact that they got Giger to do their cover should be endorsement enough in itself. Brain Salad Surgery, Close to the Edge and Dark Side of the Moon, each went far beyond the form.
A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!
AND IT MUST SELL IN THIS ONCE ONLY AUCTION

I pack my records professionally in stiff corrugated cruciform record boxes leaving the Vinyl (housed in anti-static bags) outside the Sleeve.
